Big earnings week ahead; Dow gains 59 on Friday

[Music] investors will be greeted with a full plate of potentially Market moving economic reports this week including a look at March retail sales new home construction and more inflation numbers on the earnings front expect profit report cards in the coming days from American Express eBay Intel Johnson and Johnson and Yahoo among others on Wall Street Friday a bigger than expected drop in consumer confidence kept a lid on any big gains the Dow did manage to climb 59 points the NASDAQ Composite Rose 11 if you're one of the millions of Americans expecting a tax refund from Uncle Sam this year you may want to think before you squander it away the average federal tax refund is a little over $2500 and it's not found money it's been yours all along you just ended up overpaying the IRS all year some possible uses for that refund pay down your credit card debt think of retirement and sock some of that money into an IRA you you can open a CD with the highest interest rate you can find or how about investing in your child's college education and opening a 529 plan you may even get a tax deduction for your efforts that's your money watch click on cbsnews.com for more in New York I'm Alexis christopherus
