Dow rebounds 45; GM reclaims sales lead over Toyota

[Music] Bargain hunters went shopping on Wall Street, erasing an early tripledigit loss for the Dow and sending stocks higher after Friday's big sell-off. In the end, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 45 points. The NASDAQ composite rallied 28. GM inched back ahead of Toyota in the race to sell the most cars worldwide. In the third quarter, the US automaker sold nearly 2.4 4 million vehicles compared to Toyota's 2.25. That puts GM about 10,000 cars ahead of its Asian rival for the first 9 months of the year. Based on yearly sales, GM has been the number one automaker worldwide for 76 years. And it turns out the Easy Bake oven recall earlier this year didn't burn profits at Hasbro. The toy giant said quarterly earnings jumped 62% thanks to strong demand for its Transformers, Spider-Man, and Star Wars toys. And college costs keep on rising. The average total cost of tuition and room and board at a 4-year private college rose to $32,300 this year. Total charges for four-year public schools, including room and board, increased to just under $13,600. And about 3/4 of full-time undergrads received some form of financial aid.
