it's the clearest sign yet that we may be in a recession the u.s lost 63 thousand jobs last month it's the biggest loss in five years and the second straight monthly decline in employment the unemployment rate dipped to 4.8 percent many economists believe we are now in a recession and most americans would agree a new gallup poll shows 50 percent of americans don't expect to be able to maintain their current standard of living and 85 percent say things are only going to get worse oil prices hit another record high today briefly topping 106 dollars a barrel that's after the dollar fell to yet a new low against the euro and united airlines became the latest carrier to try and offset the soaring price of jet fuel the nation's number two airline has raised its fuel surcharge to ten dollars for all domestic round-trip flights experts expect more airlines to do the same as oil prices continue to rise that's your money watch log on to cbsnews.com for more in new york i'm alexis christopher
