there's more trouble in the sky this morning the FAA is ordering major carriers to inspect their md80 airplanes for cracks in the fuselage that could sever the frame or cause other damage the inspections must begin by August twelfth and be completed over the next two years in April American Airlines grounded its md80 fleet for inspections related to electrical wiring meanwhile starting today US airways joins a growing list of airlines charging passengers fifteen dollars for their first checked in bags it's also ending curbside check-in at thirty-four airports nationwide including New York's Kennedy and Washington's Dulles and forget about watching a movie on your next flight the carrier is also scrapping in-flight movie systems from its US flights to save about 10 million dollars a year in fuel and other costs and Japanese fans of Apple's iPhone are eagerly lining up in Tokyo two days before its launch it hasn't been available in japan until now the previous generation of iphones were incompatible with japanese systems in the meantime the new apple 3g iphone is being sold across the border in mexico for under a hundred dollars that's half its planned us price AT&T will start selling the eight gig version 4 199 bucks in the US on Friday and that's your money watch log on to cbsnews.com for more in New York I'm Claire lekha
