Gas falls 29 straight days to $3.77; oil slides to $111

That trip to the gas station has gotten a little less painful. The price at the pump has fallen for 29 straight days. The national average now stands at 377 a gallon. That's nearly 10% lower than the record high last month, but still a dollar a gallon higher than this time last year. The drop follows a steep decline in oil. Crude slid again today, falling as low as $111 a barrel. But that wasn't enough to spark an end of week rally on Wall Street. And stocks finished mixed. The Dow did gain about 44 points while the Nasdaq Composite slipped more than one. Cookie giant Mrs. Fields has fallen on hard times. It plans to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Mrs. Fields, 1200 franchises will remain open while it restructures the business. And it may be the new must-have high-tech gadget, but the iPhone is suffering from the same old problems. Dropped calls and slow internet connections. Complaints about the new 3G phone are worldwide, but experts say AT&T and Apple are working on a software fix, and that could be available as early as next week. Ed McMahon is getting a new landlord. Donald Trump says he's going to save McMahon's Beverly Hills mansion from foreclosure. Trump will buy the home and lease it to McMahon, who defaulted on a nearly $5 million mortgage.
